COVID-19 - Safeaid Services Postpones Open Training Courses.

Updated 9am - 23rd of March 2020

Regrettably and after Government advice, we are sorry to announce that we are postponing our schedule of all open training courses at West Midlands House Willenhall and Hollyfields Centre Erdington, with effect from Monday 23rd March 2020. We currently plan to resume on 20th April, subject to the prevailing conditions at the time.

We are in a dynamic, fast moving situation. This page is Safeaid Services current position and we ask you to visit regularly to see any updates that may occur in the coming days.

The reasons for our decision to suspend courses include:

• The need to follow government advice to prevent spread of COVID-19

• Feedback from our customers who expressed a growing level of concern

We have been told by our qualification regulators throughout the Coronavirus outbreak that first aid training was not a social gathering and was training that was still required.

However following Government press conference 22nd March  the chief medical advisor said you should be sticking to social distancing and gathering in groups of 8-10 should be avoided.

This new guidance makes running a first aid course impossible to facilitate safely. The candidates are at little risk from the course itself as our hygiene standards are to hospital grade however it is the fact that people would have no option to self distance.

We have made this decision for the Health and Safety of your participants and morally we could not expect them to attend

Im aware that this training will still be required so to try to mitigate the effect this has on your organisation we prepared to still run courses on your site at reduced cost and numbers attending that would normally be required.

This allows you to still have the option to comply with your legal number of trained staff but in their normal working environment and with participants that they are  exposed to during a normal working day.

Obviously all currentbookings will be honoured once we get back to normality.

You are aware that this is a fast changing event and my decision has not been taken lightly today. This is the first time in 25 Years Safeaid Services has ever cancelled training but we have no choice to make the correct decision.

The HSE has announced a 3 month extension to the validity for all certificates coming up for renewal on or after 16th March during the current Covid crisis. See full statement here.

The Department for Education has introduced the same extension for all Paediatric First Aid certificates coming up for renewal on or after 16th March.

Please contact us for and advice or guidance. Stay safe and best wishes

Kind regards
